1. Josh Gilligan – Tightrope

Source:Josh Gilligan – Topic

Today, Nashville-based musician, songwriter, and filmmaker Josh Gilligan announces his debut album Party Of One, set for release January 24, 2025 via Chicago and Nashville-based indie label Easy Does It Records. Lead single “Tightrope” is out today, listen here.

Self-produced by Josh Gilligan and co-written by him and Jacob Jeffries of Vulfpeck’s camp, “Tightrope” brims with autumnal energy – softly introspective with shimmering guitars, psychedelic tinges, shuffling rhythms, and gentle harmonies buoyed by Gilligan’s sharp songwriting.

Gilligan says of the track, “‘Tightrope’ is about sometimes being my own worst enemy, but looking to change that, and starting to go easier on myself and others. It was one of the earlier songs I wrote for the album, and the first time I was able to envision a full album of new music.”

It’s a powerful introduction to those who might not be familiar with his presence in the Nashville indie scene, having worked in various capacities with artists like Halfnoise,  Madi Diaz, Elke, and Medium Build. His diverse experiences on stage have infused his music with a rich blend of influences, setting the stage for his most personal project to date.

Party of One, due out next year, marks a new step in his musical journey, following the success of his 2021 EP, Go Around.

When he’s not making music, Josh enjoys spending his time outdoors, fishing or working on vintage music equipment. His passion for music and creativity is matched by his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life, and he strives to create songs that resonate on a genuine level with his audience.

Every trial, tribulation, loss, win, heartbreak, and triumph has brought multiplatinum Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley to this point. Today, the hip-hop powerhouse cuts deeper than ever, pushes through the pain, and finds true healing with the release of his anxiously awaited new album, Post Traumatic, out now via Grizzley Gang/300 Entertainment. Transforming a lifetime of unbelievable experiences into anthems, the sweeping 24-track project resembles the moment of clarity in a therapy session where everything is left on the table, once and for all.

Listen to Post Traumatic HERE.

Of course, he has never lost sight of where he came from. So, he introduces this body of work with the music video for the seismic single “Robbery 8.” Watch HERE. It not only adds another installment to his fan favorite series (viewed hundreds of millions of times), but it also lights up the screen with a distinct energy.

Tee projects a core message—you are not hopeless. In fact, he has utilized his experiences to show and prove that reform and second chances are possible.

These ideas play out in subtle fashion over the course of this masterpiece. He joins forces with Fridayy on the magnetically melodic “I Know.” A fast-paced flow from Tee collides with Fridayy’s chantable chorus, “I know how to turn my pain into these melodies.” Soulful guitar wraps around a head-nodding beat during one of many standouts “Situationship” featuring Mariah The Scientist. Elsewhere, he tags in HUNXHO on the punchy “I Ain’t Sorry.” Then, there’s “Swerve” featuring G Herbo, which highlights their interplay. On “Pop Shit,” he hands the mic to Grizzley Gang cohort Baby Grizzley, and “Deposits Crazy” finds him in a state of reflection.

He paved the way for Post Traumatic with the event-size single “Blow For blow” featuring J. Cole. Earning widespread acclaim, he sat down for an in-depth interview with Complex about this season and the outlet noted, “Tee Grizzley’s upcoming album is called Post Traumatic, because it dives into the lessons the rapper has learned as a result of getting through difficult situations. The Pi’erre Bourne-produced cut marked the first time the two rappers paired up, and they definitely didn’t hold back.”

Listen to “Blow for Blow” HERE. Watch the video HERE.

Earlier this year, Tee Grizzley has been trading bars and unfolding runway for his upcoming album, from singles such as “Swear to God” [feat. Future] to “Robbery 7,” which extended his fan favorite “Robbery” series. Most recently he dropped off his single “Detroit” [feat. 42 Dugg].

7. Konyikeh – Lie To Me

Source:Konyikeh

Fast-rising R&B and soul artist Konyikeh is set to release her second single of the year, “Lie to Me”, today via FAMM. Following the success of her recent track “Sit Down”, Konyikeh’s latest single is a haunting exploration of betrayal and vengeance, showcasing her distinctive blend of soulful R&B and Cuban-inspired rhythms.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, Konyikeh shares, “I was listening to a lot of old Latin music and admired the storytelling that came from those songs. ‘Lie to Me’ is about a woman dreaming of killing her cheating husband. Musically, the production is heavily inspired by Cuban music, and I wanted to convey the liveliness and joy of the music while juxtaposing it with a sad tale.”

The accompanying video, directed by Billy King, is equally striking. Shot on film for a timeless feel, the visuals play with film noir elements, alternating between black-and-white dream sequences where the scorned woman acts out her vengeful fantasies, and color sequences depicting her isolation in real life. Konyikeh notes, “The video goes between black and white to color. In the black and white sequences, it’s like a dream where the woman catches her cheating husband in the act. The color sequences show her isolation.”

Konyikeh’s rise to stardom continues, with notable features including a COLORS Show and coverage in The Guardian, The Fader, British Vogue, and Wonderland. She has also received support from Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1 and has toured with Sam Smith and Tems. 9. Honey Bxby – Left Eye

Source:Honey Bxby

The Asbury-Park singer Honey Bxby warns a lover not to cross the line with her in her latest single, “Left Eye.” Honey Bxby sings about the pain of being betrayed by a lover and being hurt by what the lover has done and said to her. She sings about how she can burn his house down and act out angrily to the point where she’s lost in the drinks she had to cope with the heartbreak.

Honey Bxby’s “Left Eye” is produced by Worldwide Fresh. Honey sings on the Mobb Deep “Quiet Storm” flipped instrumental about how being called a bitch hurts her and how the betrayal has made her angry enough to pull up to the man’s house and confront him. This song caters to her own sub-genre of “chaotic R&B,” which she pulls from the days of 90s neo-soul music. “Left Eye” plays to the age-old idiom of “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

“Creating left eye was really dope, I was nervous at first doing another sample. Super nervous but I ended up loving the record and I hope fans will too,” exclaims Honey.

10. Bricknasty – XONGZ አስቀያሚ ጡብ

Source:bricknasty

Today, Dublin collective Bricknasty releases their highly anticipated mixtape, ‘XONGZ አስቀያሚ ጡብ’, via FAMM. This nine-track project blends cerebral sonics with a rich tapestry of influences, including jazz, golden-era R&B, and hip-hop.

The latest single from the mixtape, “Vinland,” is accompanied by a striking music video that invites viewers deeper into Bricknasty’s unique universe. Watch here.

At the core of “Vinland” is a restless, shuffling beat that propels the arrangement forward, layering live instrumentation that unfolds gradually to evoke feelings of displacement and introspection. The collective’s talent for crafting an intimate yet expansive sound gives “Vinland” a captivating allure, drawing listeners into its gently spiraling orbit.

The accompanying music video, directed by acclaimed Irish filmmaker Hugh Mulhern (known for his work with Fontaines D.C. and Sega Bodega), amplifies the single’s otherworldly themes. Combining surreal, distorted imagery with live-action, the video features a nightmarish edge that enhances the immersive experience. Mulhern is celebrated for blending various filmmaking techniques to create memorable visuals. The grotesque yet oddly captivating imagery adds depth to “Vinland,” mirroring the track’s underlying tension and fragmented reality.

“The ‘Vinland’ video was an opportunity to experiment with stop-motion animation using raw meat and organic material. Key reference points included An American Werewolf in London, Sleepwalkers, and Jan Švankmajer. The design for the worm’s face was a combination of the actor’s face, the depiction of Satan in The Passion of the Christ, and a volcano snail, created with AI to resemble sex organs,” shares Mulhern.

While their 2023 EP, ‘INA CRUELER,’ explored introspection and the past, ‘XONGZ አስቀያሚ ጡብ’ is a collection of freewheeling experiments that reflect the band’s journey through loss, recovery, and embracing the unknown. Many of these formative experiences were shaped on tour shortly after their debut project, culminating in this nine-track collection.

The mixtape was first introduced with “Mouthy,” a track that seamlessly fuses live acoustic instruments with captivating soundscapes. The accompanying video, directed by Connor Clarke, perfectly complements the song’s surreal atmosphere.

Fronted by Ballymun native Fatboy, Bricknasty emerged from a chance meeting between him and producer Cillian McCauley on SoundCloud. Their collaboration expanded into a full band with the addition of Dara Abdurahman (bass), Korey Thomas (drums), and Louis Younge (sax/keys). Their sound exists at the intersection of influences like Kendrick Lamar’s Untitled Unmastered, D’Angelo, and the punk-folk poetry of Dublin’s Damien Dempsey. Bricknasty’s unique storytelling and sound are products of both dedicated musicianship and the DIY resourcefulness of their generation.

Drawing from both absurd internet culture and the influence of the Soulquarians, Bricknasty’s music is a captivating reflection of their upbringing in the Ballymun estate, offering fresh perspectives on life in an often-overlooked community. Their distinctive sound encompasses everything from off-kilter blends of 2000s R&B to slurred rap delivery and sticky falsettos, all defined by raw energy and striking visuals.

‘INA CRUELER’ was a bold statement that led to the band signing with FAMM, home to artists like Jorja Smith and ENNY. This mixtape captures the rebirth of Fatboy, who faced personal challenges, including his mother’s urgent health issues and the loss of close friend Ross McDonnell, a celebrated photographer. The resulting emotional turmoil informed the mixtape’s creation, with “Mouthy” featuring recordings from The Bricknasty Sessions, a series of performances aimed at raising funds for Fatboy’s mother’s surgery.

After recently supporting Coldplay at Croke Park and performing alongside renowned acts like Loyle Carner, André 3000, Nas, and Ezra Collective at All Points East, Bricknasty is set to embark on their UK and EU tour later this year, marking their biggest live shows to date.

The teen artist has steadily been captivating fans across the internet and from stages around the world. “F*CK SWAG” has been highly anticipated since Nettspend debuted an early version at Warsaw’s CLOUT Festival — fittingly, one of the new song’s most quotable boasts shouts out the country he was in at the time: “Yeah, I went to Poland, do you still think that I’m jokin’? / Yeah, ain’t no Wock’ in Poland, but we got some poles in.”

With production from We Gone Be OK! (Destroy Lonely, Glokk40Spaz), “F*CK SWAG” sounds like drums rattling out of broken speaker cones, keys that feel equally warped and uplifting, and an earthquake’s worth of bass rumbling underfoot. The Cole Bennett-directed video matches that dark, trippy energy, placing Nettspend in a small wood-paneled room with a crystal chandelier while he rages amid water pouring down from the ceiling.

Nettspend has been on a wild run for 2024, turning heads with singles like the chiming, intoxicating “nothing like uuu” while serving up an endless stream of collabs with peers — rappers including OsamaSon, xaviersobased, Yung Danzy, and freemyswag, not to mention producers like EvilGiane (Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, 03 Greedo).

He’s also been on the road. Among other highlights, his summer Let’s Create Art Tour inspired THE FACE to report that, “The 17-year-old, who looks like a fresh-faced Kurt Cobain, instigated massive moshpits at his debut London show at Village Underground in June and had sweat-drenched fans mobbing the merch stall.” And Nettspend’s ongoing festival run — including stops at Brooklyn’s Restless Fest, CLOUT, Vienna’s Rolling Loud Europe, and The Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash in Bridgeview, IL — has also sparked coverage, with Vulture calling his Rolling Loud California appearance “one of the most hyped sets of the weekend.”

As far as his fervent online following has confirmed, Nettspend’s first song hit SoundCloud in late 2022 — but he made his entrance last year with the fittingly titled Kickdoor mixtape before landing “Shine N Peace” on No Bells’ “Best Internet Rap 2023” and The New York Times’all-around “Best Songs of 2023” roundups. The Times then placed Nettspend on their list of “7 Artists Shaping the Sound of 2024,” raving that “the teen rapper stands out for a flow that’s cheerily slurry, rapping over beats that convey both exuberance and disorder.” Rolling Stone dubbed him among “the vanguard of underground rap,” and i-D went deep in a lengthy profile.

17. Terry Presume – hi,immrlaylow

Source:Terry Presume

Nashville-via-Florida artist Terry Presume first burst onto the music scene as one of the most exhilarating new artists with an unparalleled sound and style that set him outside of the pack. Today he makes his explosive return after a two year hiatus with the release of his new single “hi,immrlaylow” and a companion music video directed by Dell Nie. Produced by frequent collaborator Capi alongside Pat Swish, the song ushers in a staggering new era for Terry that sees him establishing himself as a force in the rap arena with his boundless and menacing approach. With the latest single, Terry brings forth his deep introspection, shining light on the trials and tribulations of his personal journey and bigger forces at play, delivering a palpable message with insatiable melodies and soaring guitar riff that cuts through as only Terry can.

The release follows his critically acclaimed debut project What Box? which introduced the young artists are an essential new musical artist. His breakout track “Act Up” has amassed over 35 million streams to date. The project housed a collection of captivating songs that brilliantly captured his riveting blend of signature rap, pop, R&B, funk, and more. The project was lauded by The Guardian, FADER, MTV, Interview Magazine, Teen Vogue, Notion, UPROXX, PIGEONS & PLANES, and Ones To Watch. He masterfully produces sounds that envelope a world unrestricted by genres and social norms thus, forging new spaces for people who don’t quite fit into existing molds. Expertly blending his words with hypotonic beats either accented by electric guitar or synth transmission, he’s able to place a timely message firmly in focus that soars as he breaks through genre barriers

Born in South Florida and raised in a neighborhood called Golden Gate by a Haitian single mother, Terry has overcome more than most with music providing a source of survival and healing. He grew up surrounded by Haitian Kompa music that his mother played for him and the sounds of 50 Cent, Eminem, and classic R&B that lined his community. At just 8 years old as a shy kid, Terry wrote his first poem, and by the age of 11 taught himself to write and produce music – both of which he excelled in and used as a medium to navigate the different cultures and worlds that he straddled. He later escaped to Los Angeles with nothing but a dream of “success” and $200 in his pocket, resulting in a tumultuous period in his life. Terry ultimately relocated to Nashville where he doubled down on his music and found a stronger sense of self, resulting in a body of work led by his emotions and lived experiences – not genres. Terry bears every facet of himself with an unquantifiable depth and gratitude, honoring his pain, sorrow, heartbreak, and newfound enlightenment, unlike what is often seen in music today.

More to come from Terry soon.

23. Benny The Butcher & 38 Spesh ft. Busta Rhymes – Jesus Arms

Source:Datpiff

It’s been six years since Benny The Butcher & 38 Spesh linked up for the fan-favorite Stabbed & Shot.  On 10.18.24 that all changes, as Benny & Spesh announced the long-awaited collaborative sequel; Stabbed & Shot 2.  Much has changed in the interim, including their respective statures, as they have both grown, elevated and evolved.

For Benny The Butcher, 2024 has already been a monumental year. After dropping his major label solo debut, Everybody Can’t Go, on Def Jam, he followed up with “the summer ain’t over until say it is” projects Summertime Butch and Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1, the latter of which featured his long-awaited collaboration with Drake.  Benny’s ability to balance his gritty street lyricism with his growing mainstream presence has solidified his reputation as one of hip-hop’s most versatile voices. Stabbed & Shot 2 sees him returning to his roots, reconnecting with 38 Spesh for another round of paper chasing.

38 Spesh, has also been active and supremely accurate this year, most recently with the release of the critically acclaimed, and perhaps his most visible project to date, Mother & Gun, which again displayed his versatility as both an emcee and producer.

Benny & Spesh also realize that their long-awaited collaborative sequel includes much higher stakes and baked-in expectations.  But, they thrive under that pressure, as Stabbed & Shot 2 is the rare sequel that surpasses its predecessor; when you turn on the bright kitchen lights, Benny & Spesh are always going to cook up and deliver.

Dubbing themselves as the best tandem to go back and forth since Jadakiss & Styles P, Stabbed & Shot 2 is a master class in plug talk, survival tactics, and everything you want from a Benny & Spesh drop.  The chemistry is even more elevated, their distinct styles blend seamlessly, and they effortlessly deliver more of the barred-out, street narratives and vivid storytelling that has defined their careers.  Stabbed & Shot 2 is a testament to their growth, and resilience as artists and entrepreneurs.

As the icon Busta Rhymes states on the project’s lead single “Jesus Arms,” after hearing Stabbed & Shot 2, “you better start rethinking your top 5.”  Benny & Spesh run with that narrative, spending the next two verses proving that they rap better than you.  In addition, to “Jesus Arms,” the duo also released a second single “Brick Specials,”: both singles are now available at all DSP’s.

“Stabbed & Shot 2 is a sound that can only come from experienced street hustlers.  There is some glorification because we’re proud of where we come from and it made us who we are; but this is pure intellectual street dialect mixed with hindsight” Benny The Butcher stresses.  “You know what you’re getting when Spesh and I go back and forth.  You gotta talk to Nas & AZ, Kiss & Styles to even compare to us.”

“When me and bro go back and forth, it’s trouble.  The best to do it, believe that” 38 Spesh exclaims.  “Stabbed & Shot 2, get ready, it’s that time again!”

Stabbed & Shot 2 features guest appearances and production from Busta Rhymes, Dave East, Ransom, Harry Fraud, Daringer, ElCamino, OT The Real, Bink, V Don, Klass Murda and StreetRunner.

30. Benjamin Tod – Mary Could You

Source:Benjamin Tod

“Around the age of 19, when I was full-time hopping trains and street performing, I came across an autobiography by the author Jack Black titled You Can’t Win about his life in the early 20th century being a criminal, junkie hobo,” recalls singer, songwriter, and storyteller Benjamin Tod. “This book would shape a good portion of my identity and self-perception for many years.” With a wild imagination and a penchant for writing his own version of history, Tod took one of the characters from Black’s influential memoir and cleverly expanded on her story with his new single, “Mary Could You”—one of about twenty historical fiction narratives Tod has penned over the course of his career.

The fourth single from Tod’s upcoming album Shooting Star—out October 18th via Thirty Tigers—“Mary Could You” chronicles the backstory of Mary Howard, A.K.A. “Salt Chunk Mary” who ran a trade motel and, in Tod’s words, “a general house of debauchery in Pocatello, Idaho, for the tramps spilling on and off the railroad.” Tod sets the scene immaculately, singing, “Behind a fellow on the way to Pocatello / On a westbound passenger train / Buyin’ my time drinkin’ red wine / Waitin’ for the signal to change.” But it’s not long before the song’s main character finds himself in a spot of trouble and needing Mary’s aid; all to the tune of a hopped-up, telecaster-lick-laden train beat. “This song is based on her as the main character and a probable series of events that unfolded at some time on her property,” says Tod. “She was the queen of yeggs and I encourage you to pick up a copy of the book if you like this tune and you’re interested in a vital piece of American history.”

“Mary Could You” is the latest single from Tod’s upcoming LP Shooting Star, a ten-song venture into country music’s last six or seven decades. “The original idea for this album was for each song to be placed in a different production period in country music history,” says Tod. “Obviously, there’s no way to cover everything so my preference shines through. A tune goes as far back as the mid-50s and spans up to the early 90’s.” The album—which Tod sees as a musical homecoming of sorts—was written in about two weeks. “It spilled out seamlessly,” he says. “I wanted to prove to myself and the industry that I could write an elite country record with ease. If I didn’t accomplish that goal, I sure as hell came closer than anyone on pop country radio either way.”

Fans can stream or purchase “Mary Could You” today at this link, check out Tod’s previously-released singles, “One Last Time” featuring Sierra Ferrell, “I Ain’t The Man” and “Satisfied With Your Love,” at their respective links, and pre-order or pre-save Shooting Star ahead of its October 18th release via Thirty Tigers right here. This October, Tod, along with the entire Lost Dog Street Band continue their nationwide Shooting Star tour covering both his solo and band catalogs. Tour dates—including four new December dates concluding in Nashville—can be found below and at benjamintodmusic.com.

31. Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge, Lucie Silvas & Caroline Jones ft. SistaStrings & Sierra Hull – Going To California

32. Niambi – Rocksteady

Source:Niambi

DMV-raised and Puerto Rico-based multidisciplinary artist Niambi shares her new single “Rocksteady” today. “Rocksteady” is rooted with a slick, Jersey club beat produced by longtime collaborator, life partner and New Jersey native Proda. Arriving alongside the new single is a stunning visualizer directed by CEOJAY. “Rocksteady” follows Niambi’s debut solo single “Soccer Mom,” which was highlighted by Rolling Stone and CLASH Magazine and arrived with a MajorStage live session featuring Portia Rolle, who is the grandmother of Niambi’s child and has played on records for artists including Elton John, Notorious B.I.G. and Lil Kim, on guitar. Both “Rocksteady” and “Soccer Mom” reveal the breadth of genre Niambi explores on a forthcoming, as-yet-to-be-announced project.

Speaking about the new single, Niambi shares, “‘Rocksteady’ is one of my favorites! It’s a lot of fun, which is so refreshing for me, as I fall in love with making music all over again.”

With this new era, Niambi is letting loose and showcasing her confidence in her various roles: rapper, singer, producer, songwriter, mother and spiritual leader. Her musical story was destined from the beginning. Niambi (which is Swahili for “Melody”) had music running through her ancestral lineage, long before she entered this world. Born in Atlanta and raised in the DMV, she grew up watching her parents in Pan-African groups and jazz ensembles. Her parents were also the leading members of a neo-soul/ funk band. In Maryland, her family owned an internet arts cafe where her mother would headline monthly concerts. Niambi began exploring her passion on her own at a young age, citing Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, India Arie, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, System of a Down, Paramore, and Red Hot Chili Peppers as influences. She was the lead singer of a rock band throughout high school, which served as a creative outlet for her as she was also simultaneously in the school band and choir. She learned the technical aspects of music in her music theory classes, all of which led her to attend The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU Tisch.

It was there that Niambi met future OSHUN member Thandiwe, along with her partner / collaborator Proda, who produced “Soccer Mom” and “Rocksteady,” and her manager, who is still with her today. Niambi and Thandiwe formed OSHUN during their freshman year of college in 2013 at NYU. As collaborative partners, the two have created music, visuals, and spaces in honor of the divine feminine, carrying the name and traditions of the primordial West African deity, Ọṣun. Naming artists like Jorja Smith, Princess Nokia & Black Thought as previous collaborators, and amassing over 80M global streams, their work has been recognized and praised by Billboard, Rolling Stone, The FADER, NPR, Essence, REVOLT, Paper, Vogue and more.

Check out “Rocksteady” above and stay tuned for more from Niambi to come very soon.

33. Maverick Sabre – Lay Down On Me

Source:Maverick Sabre

Today, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter-producer Maverick Sabre releases his latest single, “Lay Down On Me”, the third track from his upcoming album Burn The Right Things Down, set to drop on October 18th via FAMM. Produced by Zach Nahome (known for his work with Bakar, Biig Piig, and PinkPantheress), “Lay Down On Me” dives deep into the emotional connection between two people, bound by love and finding comfort in each other. With powerful lyrics like, “Just lay down on me, ‘cause I’ll never go” and “Still a part of you is holding me and part of me is holding on for you”, the song captures the unbreakable pull between two souls.

The single is accompanied by a stunning black-and-white music video directed by Billy King, where Maverick performs alongside his band outdoors, interspersed with vivid imagery of intertwined hands and flickering flames, visually reflecting the intensity of the song.

Burn The Right Things Down, took form in the wake of a powerful, urgent realization—a confrontation with existential questions that fueled its creation. Drawing on his experiences and influences, Maverick stepped away from the fast-paced life in London to create music with deep personal meaning. His album embodies the idea that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, allowing him to pour his soul into every track.

Born in Stoke Newington, London, and raised in County Wexford, Ireland, Maverick’s musical journey began with the rich sounds of Blues, Folk, and Country, passed down by his father. As a teenager, he immersed himself in the Irish Hip-Hop scene, quickly gaining recognition as both an MC and producer, crafting beats throughout his adolescence. Over time, his sound evolved into a unique fusion of his diverse influences, drawing inspiration from trailblazers like Tupac, The Stone Roses, Nas, and DJ Premier.

With a career spanning over a decade, Maverick Sabre has released four albums and worked with renowned artists like Joey Bada$$, Jorja Smith, Chronixx, Nile Rogers, and more. As he gears up for the release of Burn The Right Things Down, fans can look forward to special performances and unique live experiences.

This month, Maverick will kick off with an intimate Live To Vinyl event at the legendary Metropolis Studios in West London, where he will record the album live in a single take, pressing it straight to vinyl in front of an exclusive audience. Following this, Maverick will hit the road for a four-date tour across Rough Trade venues, culminating in a final show at EARTH Hackney in London.

34. Minz – By Any Minz

Source:Minz

Released via emPawa Africa, BY ANY MINZ is the eagerly anticipated debut album from chart-topping afrofusion sensation MINZ. The album comes on the back of the viral hit track ‘Wap’ featuring afrobeats legend Davido, and the recently released Tekno-assisted ‘Diallo’, which has been championed by the likes of Notion, Earmilk, and Numero Magazine, and it charts Minz’s tumultuous and yet fulfilling journey from underground king to a bonafide leading man. Known across the continent as “your favourite artist’s favourite artist”, Minz channels his relentless drive to be heard into his album By Any Minz, a title that cleverly reflects his determination to make an impact by any means necessary.

The creative process behind By Any Minz was intense and collaborative, with Minz locking in with French producer BGRZ (Central Cee, Omah Lay) for a month in Lagos, crafting the backbone of the album, while frequent late-night sessions with A&R 10Ten were integral to the album’s development. Alongside collaborations with Grammy-nominated producer Rugged (Davido, Asake), and Ozedikus (Rema, Qing Madi), the journey also took Minz to Berlin, where he worked with production duo 255 (Burna Boy, NSG). Influenced by legends such as Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and Angelique Kidjo, Minz infused the album with his pan-African spirit, aiming to represent the continent through his music.

The album opens with ‘Revelations’ with Minz inviting us on his journey so far as he reflects on his musical aspirations. ‘Shadow’ follows with its highlife melodies and defiant lyrics against doubters, while ‘Wo Wo’ reveals a grateful and introspective Minz over soulful chords courtesy of BGRZ. ‘Ja’ captures the euphoria of love and infatuation with infectious maracas and shakers, and Minz showcases his versatility on ‘Do’ featuring Blaqbonez as the track ushers us to the dancefloor with its vibrant Lagos nightlife vibe, while the Moliy-assisted ‘Drame’ offers an escape from the chaos of the real world.

The latter half of By Any Minz is punctuated by Minz’s heartbreak anthem ‘Lon3ly’ driven by melancholic saxophone, and more of BGRZ’s soulful chords, as well as ‘F.U’ featuring Projexx and Yo Trane, with its raw passion and afro R&B flavour. ‘Low’ sees Minz introducing us to what he calls the “new sound of Lagos”, while Sokoto sees him making a spiritual call to the dance floor over EDM rhythms. The album closes out with the powerful hip-hop track ‘Disembark’ as Minz takes aim at naysayers once again, and the triumphant ‘Mo De Ma (By Any Minz)’ declaring the arrival and resilience of Minz.

All in all, By Any Minz is an undeniable masterpiece, with each track on the album offering a unique story, blending Minz’s personal experiences with universal themes that resonate across cultures and generations. With its rich production, relatable songwriting, and diverse musical influences, the album stands as a testament to Minz’s unwavering talent and determination, solidifying his place as one of Africa’s leading new voices in global music. By stepping out of his comfort zone and taking a familial and community approach to creating this album, Minz has put together a project that is a bold statement of his artistic vision, while celebrating his Pan-African roots, and pushing the boundaries of pop music.

“Natural” is an intensely sensual track where Kiana Ledé explores deep intimacy and sexual connection. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of an all-consuming passion, with Kiana portraying the level of comfort and chemistry with her lover, highlighting how natural and effortless it feels to share these intimate moments. Reflecting on the track, Kiana explains: “‘Natural’ is a sensual song about the only person that gets to see the sexiest side of you. You will try anything with them because no matter what you do, it feels natural.”

In stark contrast, the accompanying visual for “Natural” presents a much darker narrative. Watch it HERE. Opening with the ominous phrase, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,” the video explores themes of betrayal and revenge. Kiana is shown in a bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror with blood in her hair, on her hands, and a cut across her chest. As the camera pans to a pair of scissors in the sink, tension builds until the chilling conclusion, where she drags the bloodied body of a man across the floor. The juxtaposition of the song’s sensuality and the video’s haunting imagery adds depth, suggesting emotional scars beneath the surface.

“Space and Pussy” delves into the complexities and frustrations of a situationship where Kiana gave everything—love, intimacy, and loyalty—yet received little in return. The lyrics highlight the core of the song’s theme: Kiana’s partner took advantage of her generosity and feelings, seeking nothing more than casual intimacy while she craved something deeper. The chorus emphasizes her resentment and realization that her efforts were wasted on someone who only wanted “space and pussy,” not a real connection. Despite her pain, there’s a sense of empowerment as she acknowledges her worth and vows to move on.

Both singles showcase Kiana Ledé’s ability to blend vulnerability and strength, addressing love, intimacy, and self-worth with bold lyricism and raw emotion. Stay tuned for Kiana’s upcoming release of her new album Cut Ties.

48. Willy Cobb – Boy Toy

Source:Willy Cobb

Today, Southern alt rocker Willy Cobb drops a new single entitled “Boy Toy,” out now via War Buddha / Warner Records. Listen to “Boy Toy” HERE.

A slow-burning beat sets the tempo for the track as Willy’s vocals sway in and out of focus. The chorus kicks into overdrive, powered up by a rush of fuzzed-out power chords. In a moment of clarity, he laments, “Why do we go through this every time? You call me only when it’s late at night. What could I say? How could I enjoy being your boy toy?” A wailing guitar solo mirrors his stark emotion on the bridge. The song further establishes him as an unpredictable and undeniable force of nature for country, rock, and punk.

“Boy Toy” arrives on the heels of Cobb’s recent EP, Country Punkin’. Beyond picking up steam at DSPs, it landed looks from Dig! and more. In an “On The Rise” interview about the project, The Line of Best Fit christened him “one of Nashville’s newest boundary-pushing talents,” going on to rave, “the EP’s five tracks offer up servings of ragged punk energy, fuzzed-out guitars, country grit and a touch of southern swamp.”

Meanwhile,  “Cigarette Smell” has also garnered widespread critical acclaim. Rolling Stone touted it among “All the Songs You Need to Know This Week.” Plus, NOTION sat down with him for an in-depth interview and professed, “the single sees Willy Cobb at his best.”

Following European and UK tour dates with Chris Shiflett of Foo Fighters and The Cadillac Three, the Georgia-reared musician just joined the latter for a string of North American shows.

49. Oliver Cronin – Halfway To Paradise

Source:Oliver Cronin

Rising Australian pop artist Oliver Cronin has today unveiled his new EP Halfway To Paradise via WMG Australia/Warner Records – listen HERE. Today’s project marks a pivotal moment in Cronin’s rise, following a whirlwind year of international touring and songwriting that has firmly established him as Australia’s next global export.

The seven track collection features recent singles including the jubilant “Girl Next Door” with Charley, the vulnerable “In The End,” the propulsive “Burning House,” and the dark and distorting “Hello Goodbye.” It also heralds the stunning new focus track “Balance” as well as new tracks “Heartless” with SAHXL and “More Than A Kiss.”

“Two years ago I started writing my debut album called Paradise. As I got further into the album process, my perception of “paradise” started to change. A lot has happened over the past 24 months. I am still growing and learning as a musician, and the direction of this album is constantly evolving. So this is a snapshot of where I am and who I am right now. The album is coming, but consider this Halfway To Paradise,” Oliver says of the EP.

On “Balance” which he wrote in Berlin, Oliver adds: “I’ve written a lot of heartbreak songs throughout my career, but the truth is I am actually in a really happy place with love. My fiance and I met while we were in school, and I realised I have never written about our journey as a couple. So when I was in Berlin on a writing trip earlier this year, I sat down with Mike Kintish and Simon Klose and told that story. Our lives have changed so much since we were 14, and this song represents us finding our happy place within the chaos of life.”

With over 33.6 million combined streams, 893K TikTok followers, 322K Instagram followers, and 500K monthly listeners on Spotify alone, it’s safe to say that Oliver Cronin has all ears turned towards him right now. Receiving a nomination for “Best New Artist” at the 2024 Shure Rolling Stone Awards, he’s also had press love from Rolling Stone Australia, The Daily Telegraph, Marie Claire, New York Post, 10 Magazine, Acclaim, Purple Sneakers, Prelude Press, Happy Mag, Milky, C-HEADS, Total Girl, Temper Magazine, Pop Dust, and more.

2024 has been a whirlwind year for Oliver so far which began with his sold out debut headline tour. He then traveled to Singapore to perform at Music Matters and returned to Australia just in time to attend Australian Fashion Week, where he graced the PE Nation, Mastani, and Injury shows. Last month he returned to the US for a showcase in New York and a run of promo in Los Angeles ahead of the EP release. Oliver has also been busy collaborating, and recently shared ‘Her’ with Joel Fletcher which followed his other viral EDM crossover, ‘1,2,3’ with Topic.

This all comes off the back of breakout 2023 which saw multiple viral successes with his TikTok remixes and livestreams. Interpretations of songs like ‘Paint The Town Red’ by Doja Cat, ‘Escapism’ by RAYE, and ‘3:15 (Breathe)’ by Russ have introduced him to a whole new audience, while his livestreams have seen him creating new music and candidly showing viewers his creative process. 2022 saw him release his debut EP ‘Beautiful Nightmare’ which featured ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, a standout moment that has amassed over 10 million streams after it resonated with audiences on TikTok.

Source:Teedra Moses

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of her critically acclaimed debut album Complex Simplicity, Teedra Moses has released a reimagined version of the album’s title track, “Complex Simplicity,” featuring renowned vocalist Durand Bernarr. Originally available exclusively on EVEN, this single is now available across all major streaming platforms. Fans can also anticipate the release of additional reimagined singles from the iconic album, which spawned beloved records such as “Be Your Girl,” “Backstroke,” and “Take Me,” featuring Raphael Saadiq.

While the melodies evoke a sense of joy, the lyrics reveal the deep struggles Teedra faced during that period. The reimagined single and album marks a significant journey of growth and self-discovery for her and features notable artists who bring their unique interpretations, with Durand Bernarr kicking off the journey. Reflecting on the past two decades, she acknowledges how her painful experiences, which could have broken her, ultimately led to a place of victory and joy, marking a significant evolution in her career as an artist.

“Durand Bernarr is an amazing artist in personality, performance, on stage and on record, an amazing vocalist, arranger, and songwriter,” Teedra said, admiringly. “On this particular record, it really helps that he’s my friend because the song Complex Simplicity is truly one of the most personal, yet extremely celebratory, songs I’ve ever written. He came in and did what he does best, which added more color, texture, and good feelings to a record that already felt really good. It was a seamless fit.”

Bernarr echoed, “The fact that I had an opportunity to reimagine music that was the soundtrack to moments in my life is beyond imaginable, and I’m extremely grateful to have this moment. Plus, Teedra is my girl!”

Moses will be performing in support of her upcoming album with a series of shows at City Winery locations across the U.S., kicking off at the NOLA Fried Chicken Festival.

52. Victoria Monét – Jaguar 2: Deluxe

Source:Victoria Monét

Today, three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter, producer and engineer Victoria Monét releases her new JAGUAR II : Deluxe project out now on Lovett Music/RCA Records. The expanded collection of songs adds to the GRAMMY® Award winning album JAGUAR II with 10 new tracks including the Michael Jackson and Anita Baker-sampled new single “1900s” as well as her highly praised R&B single “SOS” featuring global icon USHER, further showcasing Victoria’s versatility and range across genres from R&B/soul to pop and dance. LISTEN HERE: https://victoriamonet.lnk.to/jaguariideluxe

JAGUAR II : Deluxe showcases Victoria’s affinity for live instrumentation, witty double entendres, and her influences. She reunites here with longtime collaborator and Grammy-winning executive producer D’Mile, along with xSDTRK, Camper and Tim Suby. Monét kicks off the deluxe with the jazzy “DickAtNight” – a youthful and unapologetic juxtaposition of lyrical content against a perhaps usually-serious and musically-savvy sonic bed. She pays homage to her favorite legendary icons on “1900s” (sampling Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” and interpolating Anita Baker’s “Caught Up In The Rapture”) and “Love Is Stronger Than Pride” (reimagining the Sade classic). She shares a witty yet relatable story of chasing your dreams on “Don’t Sleep” featuring Thundercat. Troubled by the state of the world, “Everybody Needs Someone” is Monét’s musical plea for change. Reminiscent of Motown singles by the Jacksons and Smokey Robinson, it’s a beautiful reminder to get back to leading with the basics: human connection and love. The deluxe also houses the gold single “We Might Even Be Falling in Love (Duet)” featuring Bryson Tiller, which is now finally available on all platforms for the first time, and closes with heartfelt messages on “The Greatest” (Lovenotes Outro).

The lead track from the deluxe, “SOS (Sex On Sight),” featuring R&B legend USHER, was the #1 Most Added at R&B Radio upon release, marking Monét’s second big hit of 2024. The Grammy winning pair debuted the song following multiple public wins this year and USHER passing the torch to Monét, a new leading R&B act in her own right. From the residency and Super Bowl, to both tied leading NAACP Image Awards nominations, to Victoria and Teyana Taylor’s viral “Bad Girl” performance paying homage to Beyonce and USHER’S iconic 2005 performance during his Lifetime Achievement Tribute at the BET Awards in June.

2024 has been a well-deserved and rewarding year for Monét. She started the year as second-most nominated at the GRAMMYs with an impressive 7 nominations – collecting wins across the categories of ‘Best New Artist,’ ‘Best R&B Album’, and ‘Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical’, where she made history as the first Black woman ever to receive this award. She went viral in April for her Coachella debut performances. In June, she released her Dave Meyers-directed, Sean Bankhead-choreographed music video for the Kaytranada viral fan favorite, “Alright” – which received widespread praise. A week later, she made headlines again with two standout performances plus award wins at the 2024 BET Awards for both Video Of The Year and BET Her. In addition to a standing ovation and Beyoncé herself posting her “Bad Girl” USHER tribute with Teyana Taylor, Victoria also delivered a jaw dropping medley performance of “On My Mama” and “Alright”. She then continued her debuts at a series of music festivals including Lollapalooza, Essence Fest, Outside Lands, Broccoli City Fest, and All Points East UK – where she can be seen performing to a 30,000+ crowd singing “On My Mama” word for word. Most recently, Beyoncé applauded Victoria publicly in her global cover story for GQ.

The JAGUAR era as a whole represents a well-deserved chapter in Monét’s distinguished career, reaffirming her evolution from a sought-after songwriter to a prominent, groundbreaking artist. Formerly in the shadows, she’s fully stepped into the light. Like its predecessors, JAGUAR II : Deluxe is executive produced by Victoria Monét, Grammy-winning producer D’Mile and Billboard Executive of the Year Rachelle Jean-Louis. JAGUAR II featured standout tracks such as “Smoke,” Grammy-nominated “How Does It Make You Feel”, Kaytranada-produced “Alright” and platinum breakout hit “On My Mama”. “Hollywood” featuring Earth, Wind & Fire and Monét’s daughter Hazel garnered a GRAMMY nomination, making Hazel the youngest Grammy nominee in history.

Bringing JAGMART to life from the viral “On My Mama” video, fans can join in on celebrating Victoria Monét at the JAGMART merch pop-up for one day only on Saturday, October 5th at 1000 N. Fairfax in West Hollywood, from 1-8 PM. Grab merch before anyone else – open to the public!

Source:DSTRCT

Rising hip-hop artist DSTRCT has officially released his highly anticipated third EP, Installation 003. This latest project marks a bold new chapter for DSTRCT as he steps away from the introspective tones of his earlier work, diving headfirst into a carefree and rebellious energy. Written and recorded between the hours of 10 PM and 7 AM, the EP boasts a dark, cinematic sound that evokes the essence of an A24 film soundtrack, blending eerie vibes with high-energy beats perfect for a night out.

Installation 003 consists of seven tracks, each weaving a cohesive narrative over the course of one wild night. From the hypnotic opener intro “Close To Me” to the reflective closing track “Rather Me Than You,” DSTRCT masterfully captures the highs and lows of an intense evening filled with chaos and exhilaration.

The opening track sets an ominous tone for the night ahead, while “No Way Out” serves as an anthem for the streets, declaring “We outside” and inviting listeners to embrace the wild spirit of the night. DSTRCT’s aggressive flow shines through as he raps about loyalty, resilience, and the challenges of life, unapologetically confronting betrayal and asserting his worth. His sharp lyricism paints a vivid picture of a man unafraid to take risks and claim what he deserves, whether it’s money, respect, or power—making this EP a powerful soundtrack for those living unapologetically.

In “Strip Appeal,” DSTRCT exudes swagger, painting a picture of a wild night filled with money, women, and electric energy. This track also pays homage to his father, West Coast rap legend Mack 10, channeling his signature smooth confidence. “Call Me” stands out as a heartfelt track that delves into DISTRICTs struggle to balance love with the whirlwind of fame. Laying bare his emotions, he apologizes for past mistakes and reflects on the toll his burgeoning career has taken on his relationship. The lyrics capture the complexities of love in the face of newfound success, revealing his guilt and longing while expressing a sincere desire to make amends.

Other standout tracks include “In My Veins,” a paranoid exploration of late-night anxiety and the weight of fame, and “Murphy’s Law,” where DSTRCT asserts his resilience, making it clear that he’s prepared for any challenges that may come his way. The EP concludes with “Rather Me Than You,” a reflective outro that ties together its themes. In this final track, DSTRCT addresses his mother, friends, and himself, summing up his emotions and journey thus far.

On the heels of Welcome to Bubbaland, his official debut album released just over a year ago, Real Boston Richey launched into a feverish campaign to build on his newly-established stardom. The results have been rewarding.

“Go Richey,” a victory lap of sorts, brings another contagious Richey chorus into the fold, as the rapper sneers, “Go Richey, do your big one,” on his trap-driven pep rally. “Help Me 2” continues the script set forth by “Help Me,” which landed Richey his first-career Billboard Hot 100 debut following its May release and has become a social media sensation as fans take turns admiring the vulnerability of its lyrics. The track continues to rise after 10 weeks on the chart, currently sitting at #55 after a #93 debut.

“Boston Richey got me checking my Apple Music every day to see if that ‘Help Me 2’ dropped,” wrote one X user after Richey teased his new music earlier this week. On the track’s sequel, Richey doesn’t disappoint, reprising the original MacFly Beatz instrumental to pour his heart out for part two.

To punctuate his new two-pack, Boston Richey delivers the music video for “Go Richey,” which takes the party to the streets, which Richey has been feeding for a year straight. Surrounded by friends, fans, and of course bands in the DevProdFilms-directed clip Richey places his stamp on the 4th quarter without wasting any time.

In addition to the success of “Help Me,” Richey’s anthem featuring Glo Rilla, “Get In There,” has been steadily impacting since its August release and has become dominant on social media. Over 140,000 posts have used “Get In There” as a soundtrack, and it’s been viewed over 4 million times on YouTube in just a month, giving the record legitimate viral success and the ceiling of a bonafide hit. With all this action coming after the release of his debut album, Real Boston Richey appears more focused than ever.

Arriving on the heels of recent single “Little White Chapel,” the new song was written and recorded by the band – Robbie Cunningham, Oisin McCaffrey and Ross Mc Nerney – after finding a letter on the table of an empty train carriage traveling from Dublin to the midlands. Entirely crafted before the train journey was over, the song was written from a place of empathy and reflection upon finding the heartbreaking letter that unveiled a mothers devastation over the loss of her young son to suicide. “I’ll leave a letter on a train ..No date , No name ..For a stranger to turn and read ..And for a moment, I’ll be free.”

On writing this song, they explain, “The subject matter of suicide will always be a difficult topic to discuss, let alone write about – but the letter only highlighted the many friends, students and family members whose lives have been affected by suicide. The song’s title, ‘The Commons’ shows the unfortunate familiarity of the topic in question. Picturing that ‘common’ area – whether it be the green of a housing estate, a local park,or a football field where kids and teenagers meet to play.”
