'That '90s Show' Canceled After 2 Seasons On Netflix, Star Kurtwood Smith Says They Will Shop It Elsewhere

Sad news for fans of That ’90s Show.

Star Kurtwood Smith, who reprised his That ’70s Show role as Red Forman and served as an executive producer, revealed that the Netflix series has been canceled after two seasons.

“I know you have been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I have tough news…Netflix will not be renewing,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all of the fans everywhere who supported and watched the show. You have come up to me in random parts of the world when I’m traveling and reached out to me through social media and just been so wonderful. I’ve loved every minute of getting to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all,” Kurtwood continued.

“I’ve said it before but it’s worth mentioning again…this show had so much heart behind it and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and crew an actor could hope to work with. Thanks for letting Red and Kitty, their grandkid, all their grandkids friends and neighbors, the original cast members of That 70’s Show and all of our wonderful guest cast members entertain you for two seasons. To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school. #That90sShow #bestfansever 🙏🧀”

That ’90s Show picked back with the characters in 1995 with Leia Forman, daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.

In addition to Kurtwood, Debra Jo Rupp also returned as Kitty, with both of them starring and executive producing. Several original stars also returned to the show as guest stars.

The new cast included Andrea Anders and young actors Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Reyn Doi, Sam Morelos, and Maxwell Acee Donovan.

The second half of season two premiered August 22nd. Watch the trailer…
