Are Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt Related? Inside Their Family Ties

As two of the breakout stars of 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci’s careers have not slowed down in the years since. The pair established a great friendship while filming the comedy-drama and have gotten even closer over time due to their family ties.

While Stanley and Emily are not related by blood, they are connected through their respective marriages. The Inside Man actor is married to Emily’s eldest sister, Felicity Blunt. Stanley actually met the literary agent for the first time at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada. At the time, he was married to his first wife, Kate Tucci, who was battling breast cancer. 

“We found out just before I did that movie that she had breast cancer,” Stanley shared during a February 2021 episode of “WTF With Marc Maron Podcast.” “So, I did the movie, and she started treatments, and then we had the premiere, and then she was alive for four more years after that.”

The couple were married for 14 years before Kate died in 2009. They shared three children together, Isabel, Nicolo and Camilla. Stanley recalled Kate and Felicity being introduced to each other at the film premiere. 

“But that’s where I met Emily and we became friends,” he reflected. “And, actually, Felicity — Emily’s sister, my wife — she and Kate talked at the premiere that night and I have a photo of them together, which is so odd. And then many years later, I ended up marrying Felicity.”

The Academy Award nominee married his second wife in 2012 and officially became Emily’s brother-in-law. 

Do Stanley Tucci and Felicity Blunt Have Any Children Together? 

Stanley and Felicity welcomed two children together after their nuptials. The businesswoman gave birth to her first child with the Burlesque actor, son Matteo, in January 2015. Their second child together, daughter Emilia, arrived in June 2018. 

The younger Tucci kids are very close to Emily’s children, Hazel and Violet, whom she shares with her husband, John Krasinski. Their family gets together whenever they can, including during the holiday season.  

“We call it a Blunt-Tucci,” Emily said during a November 2022 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert about the family’s holiday celebrations. “So, we have gone to them, they have come to us. He’s an amazing cook, but she’s an amazing cook as well.”

Stanley Tucci Has a Great Bond With Emily Blunt

In 2024, Stanley earned a role in Conclave, which quickly began generating Oscar buzz. His family supported him from the start of his Oscar bid.

“It’s the appropriate occasion for him to break his usual rule of not leaning too hard on his in-laws for help,” an insider told Closer in June 2024. “The special sauce when it comes to getting nominated for an Oscar is the full-throated support of his peers, and nobody is more influential right now than his sister-in-law Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski.”

The source went on to say that John and Emily “are the de facto leaders of a large, A-list social circle that includes Matt Damon, Chris Hemsworth and even freshly minted Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, and they have the kind of sway in town to strongly remind people how overdue for Oscar recognition Stanley is.”

The New York native received an Oscar nomination in 2009 for Best Supporting Actor for The Lovely Bones. Christoph Waltz ended up taking home the award for his role in Inglourious Basterds.

“Stanley is a beloved figure in Hollywood and he’s made some classic movies, but he’s slowed down the number of roles he’s taken over the last few years to focus on his reality TV work, his health and his family,” the insider said.

How Emily Blunt and John Krasinski Are Influencing Stanley Tucci’s Oscars Bid

In October 2024, sources doubled down on the idea that Emily and John were helping Stanley campaign for an Oscar.

“John and Emily are pretty shameless about using their AAA-list friend group to advance their personal causes, and getting Stanley an Oscar this season has become the priority for them ever since they learned that his movie Conclave was a genuine winner,” an insider told Closer.

“Stanley has had a brilliant career,” the source added. “He’s been snubbed before, and he really wants to win this time. He’s ready to cash in his chips and claim his prize. But Stanley only has a path to another nomination, and even possibly a first win, because of his incredible family connections and the influence the Krasinski-Blunts have over people.”

He continued to be praised for his performance in Conclave just ahead of awards season.

“To be clear, Stanley’s great in the movie, but the plan here is for John and Emily to soft-pressure their buddies to put Stanley over the top because they see him as long overdue,” the insider said.
